Terms of service
Last updated: April 16, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the PDF Tools website and related API services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
This page formalizes responsibilities that we also describe in product copy (for example, only processing documents you are allowed to use). It is not legal advice; have counsel review for your situation.
Authorized use and uploads
You may use the Service only in compliance with applicable laws and only with respect to files and data you are authorized to upload, process, store, and share. You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed for each document you submit. You must not use the Service to infringe others’ rights, to violate confidentiality or export controls, or to process unlawful content.
Service provided “as is”
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that outputs will meet your requirements.
Signatures and legal effect
Tools that place a signature, stamp, or similar image on a PDF are technical utilities. They do not constitute legal advice, and we do not guarantee that any mark will satisfy e-signature, notarization, or other legal requirements in your jurisdiction or for your document type. You are responsible for compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies that apply to your documents and workflows.
Fair use and technical limits
We may implement or adjust usage limits (such as file size, page count, request rate, or concurrent jobs) to protect reliability and cost. Limits may appear in the UI, API responses, or hosting documentation. Abuse, excessive automated use, or attempts to bypass limits may result in throttling or termination of access.
Prohibited conduct
You agree not to misuse the Service. Without limitation, you must not: probe or attack our systems; scrape or overload the Service; reverse engineer except where the law allows; use the Service to distribute malware; impersonate others; or use the Service in any way that could harm us, other users, or third parties.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PDF Tools and its operators, affiliates, and suppliers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or any content processed through it.
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) zero if the Service is offered without charge for your use.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Future paid plans and changes
We may introduce optional accounts, paid plans, or usage-based fees. If we do, we will describe pricing, billing, and any new limits on the relevant pages before they apply to you, where required by law. Continued use after changes may constitute acceptance, as described at the time of the change.
Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version and revising the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be announced by additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
